Will Smith

In 1992 I had an idea for a modern day "Ten Commandments" after hearing a tune. I was choreographing a 21st century crossing of the Red Sea. The story continued to come together for me, but until 2007 I hadn't written it.

After seeing "Pursuit of Happyness" I was telling my friend Kathy that I was sure Will Smith would be perfect to play Moses. She asked me where I was at on the screenplay and for some reason it kicked in at that moment. I began to write and about 2 years later had the humble beginnings of a screenplay.

I was privileged to work with Gigi New on my
screenplay. Gigi wrote for "Everybody Loves Raymond" as well as many other writing credits. One thing Gigi taught me was that there are two ways to sell your idea. One is the standard route and one is 'the road less traveled.' Find some way to get your script in front of the right person. That is why I started my other blog, INeedToContactWillSmith.com.

I was also blessed to meet an artist from Sri Lanka named Atula Siriwardane. He started creating a storyboard for me. My dream is to have an opportunity to ask Will the question "Mr. Smith, would you consider the role of Moses in my modern day telling of The Ten Commandments?"  If he says yes I will present him with a storyboard that Atula and I will create. I will be posting a Kickstarter project in early January to fund the storyboard. I'm also showing Cecil B. Demils "The Ten Commandments" on Wednesday, Apr 1st at the Heights Theater in Minneapolis. Please join us, you can buy tickets for that on the right hand side.
